 Joshua (Josh) Wayson is the owner and founder of Wayson Media. Primarily, he writes music for both stage and film musicals, as well as writing his own non-theatrical music. Using his extensive years honing his craft, he focuses on delivering truth with excellence and professional quality. To Josh, writing shouldn’t be in any particular style for genres or “feel”, but the writing and composition should align the style of the song with the story that is being told in the lyrics; a comical story about wanting to go to space may incorporate a more upbeat and jazzy feel, whereas a more dark song involving escape of some kind will feature a more rock- or metal-rooted style, just to name a few examples. 

Josh writes, records, mixes, and masters non-theatrical music himself, and writing for the theater, he composes and arranges, as well as writing the script. In fact, Josh is currently conducting an experiment on how quickly a musical can be written and pitched and, if successful, will provide an opportunity to document his findings and publish a small novella regarding his process. 

Josh holds substantial success both academically and artistically. He will graduate from the Berklee College of Music in the Spring of 2023, achieving placement on the Dean’s List during four semesters to date. And substantially, he has already completed a musical, and has pitched it to producers across the country.

Currently, Josh is working on two projects; writing a musical, with the goal of making a cohesive pitch in ten weeks; and a multi-volumed album, consisting of all music written during his time at Berklee, which will span a total of four years and include 20+ tracks. 

Born in Everett, Washington, Josh has been engrossed in music and writing since he was a toddler. This influence pushed him to taking piano lessons when he was five, and joining a choir at six. From there, he continued to take music lessons well into his adulthood, including joining theater classes and shows as he finished high school. In 2018, Josh decided to audition for the Berklee College of Music, where many musicians who he admired have attended. To his surprise, he was accepted, and continues his attendance through the present. Once he graduates, he will be returning to his new home in Spokane and continue his musical endeavors. work writing and pitching shows, and writing music in his free time.
